Subject: Next Steps for the State Fire Commission Bill

All:

Please see the email below.  As you are aware I have asked my local Senator to sponsor legislation for the State Fire Commission.  They have asked that we get Chiefs to meet with their Senators to co-sponsor the bill.  I would ask that you please forward this to you local fire chiefs and fire companies and ask them to reach out to their local Senators to co-sponsor this very important legislation.

Thanks,

Chas

Hey Chief McGarvey,

Yesterday we circulated the co-sponsorship memo and sent out a press release about our state fire commission bill.

The next step is to garner support for our bill. Due to the makeup of this current legislature, we need to find Republican support. Would you be able to rally your colleagues and have them meet with their state senators? In these meetings the fire chiefs could explain the necessity for these changes and ask them to co-sponsor the bill. Having meetings between state senators and their local fire chief would be more impactful than our office contacting them.

In the meantime, we are drafting the final legal language of the bill and Zak will be promoting this legislation on social media.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there is anything that I can help you out with.

Best,

Chad
